Quiet/docile Long Term Layers

The OP stated in the first post they wanted birds that layed for a long time, so I would assume they don’t want to replace chickens every two years. It isn’t very convient for most people and you can get breeds like BOs, BRs, EEs, Ameraucanas, Sussex, and so many more that lay for 4/5/6 years.
my BR only lays 2-3 eggs a week at 3, instead of 5. My EE was also at 2 per week at the same age.

Back when I had BRs they layed very regularly into old age. It really just depends on the strain of bird you get, and most are pretty good layers. The OP also just said that they wanted birds that had a long laying life and some breeds just don’t fit that requirement.

mine are absolutely terrible.... dont know about yours but mine lay thin shelled deformed eggs every day and then most the time turn around and propmtly eat them....
That sounds like a calcium deficiency and a poor diet. Chicken mostly get into the habit of eating eggs when they are lacking in protein. Thin shelled deformed eggs are probably a calcium deficiency and a bad diet. What do you feed them? There are tons of ways to stop egg eating once you solve the cause of it.

im feeding them 18% protien + i put some oyster shell in.... i dont think its that... i think its just wyndottes in general... there a old heritage breed.... ill just stick to my rir and EEs although i want a orpington...

Black stars!!! Wonderful layers and are sex link birds meaning that you can tell the gender at hatching. I love mine to death!! They are very very quiet birds. I also live in a neighborhood that doesn’t allow birds and no one notices at all. I have 3 and get a egg from them every day. Also I love the profile picture :highfive:
