Quiet Peafowl, Anybody interested???

I love the noises they make. We have learned what their various calls mean. In the evening our two cocks like to go out for a stroll. To call them for evening feeding and to come in for the night I will call "HEEEEERRE PEACOCKS". Usually after a few tries I will hear them answering me. I would never seriously consider devoicing a rooster, or a peacock. They need their voices to communicate in a free range environment, for a number of reasons. IOur neighbors have told us they love to hear them too. Only time I wish they'd shut up is when they stand on our front porch and use it for an echo chamber....

That's Green Pea, and right now, as I type, she's waiting at the backdoor to come in. She likes to sit on the back of the couch and watch TV with me. P-Dawg, one of my yearling boys used to go everywhere with me. The folks at TSC got a kick out of him perched on the cart while I did my shopping, and the looks I got while driving, priceless!

I think most people who have peas now is because we can....and we love the noise.....I have 40+ and breeding season is the only time they really get stirred up.
However their are many people that would love to have them but can't because of the noise....
If the procedure works like it does on roos then their is.still noise.....just much much softer.
I think the name should be changed from Decrowing to Volume reducing roosters.....lol.....to avoid confusion.
And anyone willing to pay for a.procedure must really really want a.peafowl...so I don't think it would be abused too much.
