Quiet Peafowl, Anybody interested???

I think most people who have peas now is because we can....and we love the noise.....I have 40+ and breeding season is the only time they really get stirred up.
However their are many people that would love to have them but can't because of the noise....
If the procedure works like it does on roos then their is.still noise.....just much much softer.
I think the name should be changed from Decrowing to Volume reducing roosters.....lol.....to avoid confusion.
And anyone willing to pay for a.procedure must really really want a.peafowl...so I don't think it would be abused too much.

:thumbsup

I got an anonymous note from a neighbor complaining about the racket my peafowl kept up all night. It was this last spring that they were unusually noisy. I have so many to get rid of. They sure like to breed.

If you are allowed to have them....forget about the note.

True but then there may be a noise ordinance on the books. So if the peas fall into that category, then there may be a problem. Kinda like the neighbor's dog barking during his 8 hour "bark all night shift to keep everony up" shift. But I know a pea doesn't make that continuos irritating noise like a dog does.

I keep fans running at night to drown out all noise makers at night, with 10 dogs patrolling it can get very loud when wild things lurk in the nght and the fans do drown out the pea noises as they roost in a tree next to the house.
Barking dogs are just as noise as peas around here, that is why i live far away from other folks.

Well at least they sent a note and didn't just call thew laws on ya........ i would probly do the same thing as i have learned when i had a problem with a neighbor it ended up being a bigger problem for me as they retaliated , i don't trust many folks anymore they are not like they were in the old days, nowdays folks seem to wants to blame someone else even if it is their problem.

When I had the peas in a pen in the front yard we suddenly had a lot of traffic - motor and foot. Everyone wanted to see them I guess. I asked neighbors if the noise bothered them. I have one neighbor that I never really talked to before, he looks like someone you don't want to run into in a dark parking lot if you know what I mean. When I asked him, it was really amazing. His whole face lit up and he said 'No! My mother and I like to look at them, and every morning when I come home the one stands up tall and calls to me. It's like he's saying 'good morning!'' He comes home from work around 2 AM so not sure what the other neighbors thought about that... Those neighbors were the ones that I didn't ask because I really didn't care but that's a whole 'nuther story. And the neighbor that loves them? Now we wave to each other when we pass on the road and talk when we see each other around.

I love the noise! I don't think the neighbors mind that much we've never gotten a complaint and the nearest neighbor loves them! Once we did have someone call the cops in the middle of the night because they thought a young lady was being attacked but that's all hahaha

You know we are pretty far from our neighbors but when the peas started holleren last year i thought sure someone might come down here and take a look but then again folks don't go outside like they use to,many of the older folks have passed away around my area, even some my age, lost 4 neighbors in less than 2 months so the yuppy folks are moving in and guess there kids stay in the house cause i never see any outside.

I would be very interested, though I am in southern Mississippi. The only thing that has kept me from having a peacock so far is the potential noise. We have three acres and our only neighbors for the next six acres are very accommodating, but we once vacationed in Disney in a resort with some very curious peacocks who kept us up all. ****. night.

And that was over 20 years ago and I remember the things keeping me up. And generally speaking, if I want something, I don't let the idea of slight inconveniences bother me. But the memory is strong enough to keep me from buying peacocks. So, yes, if you were local, I would be interested.

Amended, if you were local and this were a reasonably priced procedure (we are two teachers and a 5 year old), I would be very interested.
