Quilt Block Swap! All blocks have been mailed!

Prissy, not sure if Mexisbirds posted on the wrong thread or if she wants to belong to both but I am hi-jacking her to the granny square swap in any event since we talked about it. She may want to do the quilt blocks too?

This list will close tomorrow. Right now we have 20 participants.

The quilt theme is a sampler with a country feel. The fabrics are to be kept to calico in a range of complimenting colors would be preferable. The fabrics should 100% cotton and prewashed.

There are quilters not interested in wildly farmed themed fabrics. To be truthful I am not either. There are many fabric with farm scenes printed on them and those fabrics I am not interested in. They are usually not 100% cotton and don't do well over time in a quilt.

The 9 patch is a good start so that beginners who might be intimidated by a more complicated project block can participate along with more advanced quilters. Those with more advanced skills could bring more intricate pieced blocks and applique to the swap. (I want to do an applique block myself.)

The blocks when ready to send to me should measure 12.5 inches by 12.5 inches so that a finish block on a quilt top would measure out to 12 by 12.

Those participating please list the the block design you have in mind and we can continue on from here.

MissPrissy - applique rooster
Slocrevs - 8 point star
jkcoves08 - 9 patch variation
cockadoodlemom - Broken Wheel
pepperluvsmee - 9 patch with embroidery
K&H Chicken farm - 9 patch
jebrab - 9 -atch or pinwheel ??
blossomhen - 9 patch with applique
frazzled - 9 patch
parsonswife - 9 patch
hsm - 9 patch

There are many variations on a 9 patch . I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.

I cannot stress enough - Your fabrics should be 100% cotton and MUST be PREWASHED. For beginners this part is extremely important. If you do not wash your fabrics first when the quilt pieces are put together your block will shrink and pull the quilt out of shape. Once it is quilted and washed the quilt will pucker and pull and your block will look fairly raggedy - for lack of a better word.

It took me 5 hours to wash and iron all of the fabrics I will be using. I know it is one of those steps that is aggravating and we just want to get to the block making but it is a step that is a MUST for beautifully handcrafted quilts.

Anyone made a block and want to show us your creativity?

Please, please, please? LOL

You're in loliemc!
