I am going to start researching on the web to learn how to start quilting. Any good websites that teach it well. I have always wanted to and now I am going to start.

General supplies I will need etc.

Google is your friend. There's a ton of info out there. Look up "how to quilt", "beginning quilting" and just good ol "quilting". Do you have basic sewing supplies yet? For quilting you needbasic sewing supplies and a cutting mat, a rotary cutter, and start with a 6 x 24 in ruler. Look up "rail fence quilt" it's one of the easiest patterns to do. It's also quick. My first quilt was a wall size rail fence. I didn't worry about perfection I just wanted to try the process first. Then I was hooked. Look also at http://www.quilterstv.com/ you'll get to see alot of videos that demonstrate different things. Have fun. And get in on the next fat quarter swap we have here.

Looks like SarahBeth covered your topic very nicely!!!

Review that web site and purchase a nice how-to book.
Somewhere in one of the quilting threads...recommendations were made for some good resource books.

Quilting is a step process:
Pick a pattern and make your blocks.
Once you have several blocks complete, try looking at how you want to put them together...sashing or no, alternating with solid squares or sewing them side to side.
Then determine if you want borders or not.
Next you will sandwich your quilt with top, batting and backing. You can pin or baste stitch the layers together.
Quilt by hand or by machine
Bind the edges.

Remember...this is addictive!!!!!!
