Quinoa Fed To Chickens

DOes it need to be cooked? Or can the chickens eat it uncooked?

We grow Amaranth in our garden and feed it to our chickens, you can pick the leaves and they keep coming back.

Can you plant the quinoa and get the plants?

I am also wondering if it needs to be cooked. I bought a 5 pound bag of it and I don't care for it. I'm sure the chickens would enjoy it.

I feed it to my chickens a few times a week. They love it cooked and it's easy. 1 cup quinoa to two cups of water in the rice cooker and presto. I also save all my chopped veggie parts (kale/spinach/peppers/cucumbers/etc) and add it to the cooker. I feed my three ladies about 1.5 cups and then put the rest in the fridge for the next time.

I feed flake quinoa uncooked, but it's more like oatmeal. Not sure about the whole grain stuff.
