The most logical incubator is a small cheap one I kinda wish I hadn’t gotten. Because I’ve been incubating for years, I figured I could handle things going wrong. So I took a chance, and bought it. Honestly, it holds temperature beautifully, and humidity was good too. The issue was that I was checking fertility. Nothing developed, and a cat killed her before I collected more to check again. I’d eaten her eggs in the meantime.
So I cannot say it’s a proven incubator. Regardless, it’s more logical to use than one that holds 100 -ish quail eggs.

With all the snow melting/melted, the yard is very muddy. It also has holes and dips I don’t remember. Maybe my house is going to fall into a sinkhole.
I’m worried about quail and mud. Granted the mud isn’t forever (and the coop will get moved if it’s too poopy), but how anti-moisture are they? Can they handle it as long as there is a place that’s dry (up the ramp, and a box and/or hollow log on the ground)?
