Quotes, anyone?

My mom used to say, "Time will tell."

One day I asked her, "Mommy, what will it tell us?"

She answered, "We'll just have to wait and see, won't we?" Then she thought a moment and added, "It all depends on what we do today."

I didn't understand until I got a lot older, but it stuck in my head.

This one is somewhat funny line I have used in the past. Slightly modified wording that got some peeps' feathers ruffled :old :gig

Maybe some Dutch sayings are interesting too:
"Met de kippen op stok gaan"
You go to bed when the chicken go roosting / go to bed with the chickens
-> early sleeping,

"Op een zieke kip pikken ze allemaal"
They all peck an ill chicken
-> it's easy to attack the weaker in the group

"Het ei is gelegd"
The egg has been laid
-> a decision is made.

"Hij blijft op zijn eieren zitten"
He stays on his eggs
-> He doesn't spend his money.

Many many more where they come from. Our language has a lot of Egg/chicken related sayings

My favorite "real" quote:
"There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in" - Leonard Cohen
