Cougarpounce let the breeze gently blow his whiskers, relishing the freedom as he scented the fresh smells of the forest. He was used to being alone, being reserved around other cats, even his clanmates, since the time he was an apprentice. He had never stood out to anyone, probably because they only saw the cat he portrayed, the very cat he wanted them to see. He was a quiet, brilliant thinker, thinking up and performing his own battle and hunting techniques, that which even his mentor did not know of. When he had just been apprenticed, he'd seen the young toms flirting and showing off for the young she-cats and boasting of their achievements, but that was not the apprentice he wanted to be. He didn't want to show up other apprentices, he wanted to show up himself. To surprise, to outwit, and to blow away even the cleverest of his inventions and make them seem just an everyday thought. Maybe if he'd made friends he would open up more, but then, he may have been changed for the rest of his life. He didn't want to be different, he just didn't want to forget who he was inside. He didn't want to receive praise for his cleverness, because he was afraid of forgetting how to be humble. Which, he noticed, was something becoming harder and harder for warriors being born in clan life today.
-a bit of an insight, to the true cat behind the mask.
