Thank you...and I so wish you and everyone else here could have met her, to see for yourselves how truly special and wonderful she was. Just one look in her eyes and you'd be a fan for life. I know that there are other special birds out there too....just one look at all of these pictures can tell you that much...but, Gimpy was mine....my one and only really....

Yes, it does seem that our favorites always go first. And though she wasn't the first one I lost (thank God!) Gimpy Girl was my favorite right from the start. From the time she was only about 3 or 4 weeks old and had an inexplicable slight limp, hence the name, to the weeks I spent massaging her croup, because it seemed to me that she had something hard lodged in there...yeah, her and I really bonded during those days. Abnormalities aside, just her personality alone made her stand out from the other 11 girls that comprised our first flock.

I could go on and on and on and on and on....for hours on end...just about Gimpy!

But, to put it all in an eggshell...she was my number one girl First in the pecking order, and always and forever, first in my heart! R.I.P. Gimpy Girl....Momma will always love you best!

I lost Gertrude in August 08. The pic was through a screened porch. I learned something from this. Do not try to introduce 1 meek pullet into an established flock of 3 feisty hens. I thought she had impacted crop, and maybe so, but I think she died of a combination of things and depression was a BIG one. RIP Gertie.
