Rabbit people!!! Info needed!! Please!!!! *UPDATED*

I got nothin for you other than what you've done, but wanted to help keep this up where someone might see it. Hope something positive happens soon. That's really strange.

Thanks Wolftracks! I am just so confused! One has never been late and the other has never even done it before! Somehow they are on the exact samebirthing schedule of ridiculous lateness! Makes no sense to me! Just gave them each a nice belly rub to try and stimulate something here!!!

I have never had one go more then 35 days. If both go over 35 days, and your positive on your dates you may need to get them to a vet. If you only see on with movement the other doe may have a dead litter.

We breed harlequins and I have never had one go past 35 days, our vet that comes out ( for our livestock) told us never to allow them to go over 35 days. Luckily we haven't had this problem. If you are that concerened bring them, usually they will give a steroid shot first and then will induce the rabbit by the next day if still nothing.

No help yet?

Not really! Every answer is go to the vet! Sorry! No rabbit vets here! It's either figure this out and help my girls or let them handle it themselves and possibly die! Not big on the whole - my babies dying thing! I rubbed their bellies for awhile and it seemed like it did something! They were both breathing so fast that I figured I would go upstairs and chill and come back an hour later to babies! Nope! Breathing has slowed down some! I can still see movement in both girls! One has just been laying non stop in her nest and the other on the floor of her cage which she has scratched bare the last 3 days! One breathes fast then slows for a minute then fast again! I have no clue whats going on here and even less of a clue how to get these babies out of my babies!!!!!

Crude I'm so sorry. I hope it's just something that will work out and I know about not being able to find a vet. Have you gone on www.backyardherds.com and asked there?

I'll try google and see what I can find. Not sure how much help that will be, but I'll try.

First, breathe!
I have had some take their sweet old time and just when I "know" they must not be preggers, here come the babies. If you feel them in there, and you have given the girls all they need for having them. Then step back and relax. Some of my mommas have eaten like pigs right up until hours before and others won't touch anything for 2 or 3 days before. Just like us women, each of them is an individual.
Remember, rabbits don't come in heat until they have done the deal and then they may not 'take' immediately, so maybe your date has a little wiggle room.
They are laying out like a pregnant doe from what you described. Just stay back and let them relax. Mother Nature will bring them out when they are ready. If your White has had them before, she shouldn't have any problems. I would watch the other a little more, but usually instinct kicks in and they do everything they are supposed to. And I have had them wait to pull fur until 20-30 minutes before having them.
Just a pointer though, I always save some fur from a doe who pulls a lot and put it aside just in case I have one who doesn't or didn't pull enough.
Good luck. Hopefully you will have little nake wigglers really soon.

I did have a question though, are you sure that White is a NZ? she has awfully round ears for one and she seems kind of small for an NZ. The spotted one (broken castor by the looks) appears to be a Mini Rex. Is that right? We have MR and Netherlands.

Good luck.
Theri

P.S. If I talk to a vet about rabbits, I usually hear lots of laughing.

Sounds nerve racking, but they have to come out one way or another. Watch for signs of distress but until then nothing much can be done, they come out when they are ready. I hope that it does go smoothly for you and your girls.

Do you have Camomile tea? If you do try weak tea to relax them. You said you massaged their tummies. I was just thinking. One of the dogs I co owned (from my litter) was in labor so the other owner massaged her stomach. But she set a pup sideways in the birth canal. Make sure you don't rub to hard.

OK I'm not finding diddly, but still looking. Sorry the other forum was no help.

Thanks everyone! I am just ready to cry right now! My Pearl had her second litter on the wire in winter and I didn't catch them in time and they died! They had really nice coloring though and I was really hoping to get a third from her with the same colors! She is the big white one that I could feel kicks in yesterday! Now no matter how hard I search around in there I can't feel anything and am worried they have died! I still see some rolling and jerking occasionally but that's it! They both just seem sooooo tired is all!

Minniechickmamma: I was told from the people I got her from that she was a New Zealand! She is albino with the red eyes! I don't know much about ears but I think maybe the pic is deceiving. She is enormous! Especially right now! Who know though! The other one is Spots and I have no idea what she is! If you say Mini Rex then you are probably right! I'm am still kinda new to this!
