Can someone here help me?
Yesterday I went outside as I do everyday to feed my animals but something was different. There was a baby bunny! I was so filled with joy because I had been trying for so long to breed my rabbits, they are all in one cage together the male and two females. The strange thing is though that they baby was already fully grown!(by that I mean it was around three weeks, it had all its body fur, it's eyes were open, and it was bouncing around) anyways that wasn't what concerned me what concerned me was that today I went outside and it was gone! Can someone tell me what happened to it? The floor of the cage is just dirt, did the parents freak out from me petting their young one and "re-bury" it? I found out that rabbits make underground nest for when they give birth in the wild. Please give me any information you can. Thank you and sorry for such a long post.

Do your rabbits live in a "Colony" ? if so, yes, they are underground. how long have you had your rabbits? how old are the oldest? how many do you have?

2 to 3 weeks old is about the age that baby bunnies tend to come out of the nests and start moving around, so if there is any possible way that your doe could have had a nest and you didn't know, clearly that's what has happened. As to where it went, well, wherever it came from in the first place is one possibility. No, the doe didn't bury it, it's getting very close to the age where the doe is going to completely lose interest in it anyway.

Your account is a little confusing, but what makes the most sense is something like this: your doe dug herself a burrow and gave birth about 3 weeks ago. She has raised her litter, and they are now starting to move around and explore the area outside of the nest. Maybe this was the first time one of the babies left the nest. To me, the question really should be, where are the others? When a doe is pregnant with only one baby, it usually grows so big that giving birth to it takes too long, and it doesn't survive the birth process. Baby bunnies need each other to keep warm, so even if only one baby survived being born, it must have had siblings to create enough warmth in the nest, or it would have died shortly after being born. So where are the others? Is there a predator that could have killed them? Could they have escaped? If so, the one you saw may be the last of them. Otherwise, I'd say you probably have several babies running around there somewhere. And knowing what I know about rabbit reproduction, if your doe gave birth about 3 weeks ago, she probably will give birth again in about another week to 10 days.

I've had my rabbits for about a year now. I've been keeping an eye on them and I haven't seen anymore baby bunnies yet but the one that is there seems to have been feeding from both of my two females so there has to be more somewhere underground.
