Foxes go through a boom-bust population cycle, when the population rises too high, the mange shows up and reduces it... I've shot mangy foxes that were desparate, out hunting too near people and in broad daylight. This one was about 100' from my chickens, was not afraid of me. It's usually a bad sign if a predator doesn't try to leave rapidly when people are around-
