Raccoon attack! Help!

She is in a covered trailer right now, and it’s stays pretty warm in there. She is still in with the other two right now, but tomorrow I will put her in a kennel in there. The chickens she’s with haven’t bothered her, and any red spots I covered with BluKote to discourage pecking.

I found a very gruesome scene when I fed my 14 week old Easter Eggers today. They are still in a temporary pen, and it’s not as protected as I’d like it to be. Their new one will be finished this week. They also choose sleep outside :he. Anyway, when I went over there the first thing I saw was feathers laying on the ground, more than usual. All of them were moving, so I didn’t think much more had happened than a scuffle with each other. Nope, one of them was limping very bad when I fed them. Upon inspection, her crop is hanging off her through her skin, and her leg is completely gone. There’s a huge hole in her, and she smells like death. She won’t make it, we are going to put her out of her misery :hit. I separated her, and went to check on the others. I moved them into a completely protected and covered trailer. One of the others also hasn’t escaped unharmed, unfortunately. Dublin, as I call her, had a thumb-sized gash under her beak. I sprayed Blu-Kote on it, but it looks pretty bad. She’s still running around, walking fine. She tried to eat a little food too. Will I need to put her down as well? I hope not, but I can see the gash thru her throat if I look into her beak.:hit Please help!
I’m no expert at all but I wouldn’t put the chicken down. I have one that was attacked by something and her whole side is raw. I bathed her in warm water, blow dried what I couldn’t towel dry and put neosporin on her. I have her in a dog kennel in the house and she is actually looking pretty good. As long as she is eating and drinking I wouldn’t give up in her.

Casportpony is the one that suggested the treatment for her. I’d contact him and see what he says.

She already has some amazing highly qualified experienced help on this thread so I don't like to tag more of the regulars folks (there are several here that I am in awe of. To think about the amount of help and support they offer, just out of their love for birds and kindness of their hearts is incredibly inspirational) but just for future reference, if you type "@" (without quotation marks and without a space between) and the user name right after, you will see a list of usernames pop up as you're typing. Select the user you want and it will tag them and alert them to your tag. If you already knew this, please overlook me, but I hope this helps if you ever need it in the future. I'm so happy your girl is recovering :hugs
