Hey everyone it’s me again! We’re putting together the coop. It’s awesome. I would like to get the chicks in there ASAP as it’s warming up. They’re about a month old. Can I use this radiant heat pad and get them in there and take the temp to make sure they are warm. We will be putting the coop in our barn but not in a stall, in a covered area away from direct elements. Coop has locks and sits a few inches off the cement ground. Picture below of corner where the coop will be. If I hang this pad in the coop will it work for my chickies? Thank you for your help! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LX9K1JI?tag=duckduckgo-iphone-20&linkCode=osi&th=1&psc=1

Here’s my question cause I’m cheap: can I use a heat plate for full grown hens? I hate spending money on something that I may never use after next week. I know I’m cheap. They’re almost 5 weeks so I want to get something that I can use now and later. This one is smaller and I can put it in the nesting boxes to keeps them warm on both sides and not have to worry about fire. I read all the reviews (yes I’m a dork) and people use them even for very young chicks https://www.amazon.com/Pet-Products...lack/dp/B00JHK3740?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1

Sounds warm enough for chicks, and looks like some people use it as such. I prefer a top down type heat only because it seems more "natural" but don't see why this couldn't work.

I’m not quite sold. But it’s getting to the point here the chicks only have a week or so left in my house so maybe I can put one in to give them some extra love❤️
