Nice thing about mini Jerseys is if you have a jersey and you use mini jersey studs by AI you can breed down to a mini and have a foundation pure in a few generations .

Ah. Yeah I just wish they'd get the registry finished So I can find some :p

What part of the country are you in there are several breeders if you search the internet Miniature Cattle Pros is one of them near my part of the country, they are located in Colorado.

North CA.

I looked up the mini jersey and could only find them back by ohio and such.

Have you looked into the Dexter or the Devon breed at all? Both dual purpose breeds. the Dexter is supposed to give very good milk, does well on pasture and produces a good carcass.

There are a couple of breeders in Oregon with cattle for sale.

Here is an interesting article on the Milking Dexter:

http://www.dextercattle.org/DexterArchive/XArticleDebbieDavismilkingdexters.htm

I don't have a milk cow, at one time I seriously thought of getting one. I think the option to milk only once a day would be the way for me to go, as we don't drink that much milk. I like the idea of putting the calf out in the pasture all day and milking when I get home from work. Then leaving the calf with mom for the evening and night.

I wish I had pasture! I have feed for 1 maybe 2 months. but not enough to not have to give hay *sigh* I make due with what I got.
