A lot of people have different experiences with roosters, and of course there are a lot of different acting roosters, but today I wanna write about my experience with some. Of course this may not work for everybody’s birds, but it’s worked for mine so worth a try, right?
So I’ve had both my roosters since they were very young, one since about 3 days and the other since about 6 weeks, and had no idea really how to handle them. I’ve always picked them up since they were young, and even though they weren’t particularly kean on it, I thought it would make them friendly. It didn’t really. But on the plus side, they’ve never attacked me. They are both pretty much mature now, and along with still picking them up a few times a week, if they attempt to mate the hens in my presence I’ll chase ‘em off. I think it also helps to almost walk ‘through’ them. For example, when I’m walking through their field, if they are in the way I’ll shoo them on, instead of walking around them. Like I said, they’ve never tried to attack me, and kinda walk off if i try to catch them, but i can easily enough by shoo-ing them into the coop. They also eat from my hand if they feel like it. So if you want a semi friendly rooster, this may work for you!

I just thought they looked young. I would expect that if they are not mean by now, you may have gotten a good set of roosters. Just always be aware of roosters.
Yeah i still don’t turn my back on them. Just to clarify, the pictures are only of 1 rooster, and the last one is him today.

I just found out one of m two silkies is a rooster... but I was just wondering what breed is your rooster? It has black legs and the gold lacing? I think it’s called looks exactly like one my mystery breeds.

Mine is Black Copper Maran. If you post a picture of yours, I’m sure me or someone else could help you identify him!
