Help!! My bobwhite quail are dying!! I had four and two died already! :'( I don't know whats wrong. They have two regular lamps and a warm water bottle they snuggle against. They keep drooping their heads, and I don't know what's wrong. They ate 4 hours ago, and I just game them a mix if salt and sugar water that I fed them from an eye dropper. Tomorrow I am looking in to getting a brooder for them tomorrow. I only have $40 to spend on one. What shousd I do!? Please respond ASAP!!

How old are they? What is the temp where they are? Do they have constant access to food? Do you have electrolytes in their water? I am not a quail expert having only hatched Bobwhites for the first time this spring. Hopefully, someone else will respond!

Also, I have made several brooders from large Rubbermaid containers. They are easy to clean and not expensive. If you go this route, I recommend you buy the largest one that you can afford. For a lid, my DH cut out the center part of the lid, drilled holes around the perimeter, and we wires hardware cloth over the opening. Bobwhites take lots of room so depending on how many you have, they will quickly outgrow this size of brooder.

I had 37 out of 50 hatch yesterday and I've bee raising coturnix this is my first hatch of bob white should I Let them in same pen or keep them apart

Just my opinion , and I am a newbie to quail, but I would separate them. They say bobwhite are aggressive and they get bigger than the coturnix so you might endanger the smaller birds.

im new with this as well, but I had Tennessee bob white chicks try to kill and wat each other from being too hot and having the wrong lighting. Idk if the othersare the same or not, but I would seperate them just in case

What about brooding? Do the hens brood easily? or will I need and incubator for my bobwhite eggs?
