Hi I am contemplating getting 2 pigs for christmas. I have heard pros and cons on raising them in winter and spring. I am wondering what everyone elses opinion is. If anyone has any suggestions for me that would be great.

i got mine in may and processed in november. when do you plan to process?

I got mine yesterday and plan on processing at beginning of May. I have never raised pigs before so if you have any suggestions I would be happy to hear them.

Big D and Baby Licious!

thats great. what do you plan to feed them? i had mine in a small pen and used the four corners method.

They are currently on Grain, cracked corn lots of bread and scraps. What is the four corners method? We also have a heat light going for added warmth as has been below 20 degrees all week.

their drinking water and mud bath in one corner, their shelter in one corner, feed trough in one corner, and them using the bathroom in the other corner. i am interested in seeing some other posts talking about winter care.

Oh I see that sounds pretty cool. I am also interested in seeing other posts about winter care. I have searched everywhere and cant seem to find any groups talking about raising pigs in the winter (in the northeast). I would love to hear how every does it!
