To expand on the thread title I'm asking specifically about raising goslings when you need to be away from home 8 hours a day. Ideally I'd like to take some time off when I begin raising them but I guess I can't be off work for the whole time they are growing up.

To get to the point then I guess what I'm asking is how safe is it to leave goslings in an enclosed environment without risk of harm during the working day? Do they NEED someone around all the time or if they have a nice area to settle down in with fresh food and water and heat will they be pretty much ok?

Goslings don't need 24 hour attention or supervision if they have their essentials needs. Such as food, water, correct temps (heated area and cooler area) nothing hazardous or dangerous they can get to and a secure enclosure to keep danger out they'll do just fine.

Thanks Moonshiner.
Looking to get my first pair of Toulouse geese next year as I've missed hatching season this time around and I just wanted to make sure that I was as well educated about their care as possible before I commit.

Agreed. As long as the brooder temp is good and its secure. And the have food and water. You'll only need to check them once or twice a day.
