Raising Guinea Fowl 101

POL?

Mine are in the Guinea Gulag this time of year, They live in the turkey hut. The turkeys refused to use it, but the guineas  like it. As soon as they get out of the Guinea Gulag and free range again they will move in with the chickens I am sure.   They were so loud we could hear them  inside the turkey hut, and there is a chicken coop between us and them!

BTW I think they stole the beer, I refuse to buy them beer anymore, they do not know how to drink in moderation.

Guinea gulag!!! I like that one! I sleep through my guinea cacklings and buck wheats...I hope the police dont come to my house trying to get the beer mine steal. Right now my guineas are hitmen running around practicing catch the hit!

Mine need to lay another 400 eggs before they get released for Guinea Gulag.... all but the Hen doing life in prison without possibility of parole... She is vicious!
That's how you make sure your guinea eggs hatch!?? We find abandoned guinea eggs in the woods, the neighbors yards, the flower beds....you name it, all abandoned. If we require gulag time, maybe the females will actually care for them !!!!!

That will never happen, Guinea hens are amongst the worst mothers in the world. If they were human they would have court ordered sterilization.

Guineas that grow up with a foster mother (chicken) have a 43% less likely chance of ending up in prison.

You all are giving guineas a bad rap.

I have 2 little angels that knock on the back door and come in everyday. They sit in their favorite chair and watch a little tv and chat with the hubbie then they go back outside. Their better behaved then my chickens or ducks ever thought of being.

It sounds to me like they are youngsters and have not gone through a breeding season yet. The first breeding season is an eye opener to people who thought their guineas were sweet little darlings. It can be a very harsh awakening.

They will be 9 weeks old tomorrow. I do have to admit I think they would have stold my husbands motorcycle if the keys were in it. He found the male on the seat and the female was on the pouch behind the seat. They didn't poop at all on it being the little angels that they are.

Just like Wednesday Addams response to the question of who died...."wait"!!! Even Lucifer was an angel.
