Raising my Baby Chicks

Oh my goodness, that was quite a successful hatch! They're all so adorable!

Welcome to BackYard Chickens!!

Just wondering, have you ever thought about using a heating plate or homemade heating-pad-cave in your brooder for the babies? I used that method for my (few) girls and will never use a lamp again! They were so quiet and integrated so quickly with the older ones.

At about 2-3 weeks old I changed the barrier from hardware cloth to the picket-style so they could come and go from the brooder as they felt comfortable. Then they were done with the heating pad and roosting with the big hens at 4-5 weeks old.
