Raising our 1st set of CX meaties

I have 39 left.
2 of those have splayed legs and one Crook, still not really growing but hanging in there. I should not have list the 8, roomy mistake. But we are adding a few bales if hay in the hoop coop next week and they be outdoors til butcher! Make it or break it lol gotta set up for the next batch coming on the 3rd lol doh.

Heat is important, very important 1st couple weeks I learned.

That's my concern as well.

I think if I had had higher heat temps I wouldn't have lost any. I was indoors but still cold and had one lamp and put them out doors before they were feathered during a cold snap. Now I have 2 lamps and a heater and they're doing great. One good draft they get the sniffles and fluid builds and they need high heat fast to fix it but usually die before hand
I think next batch coming is going to be awesome and we will have very little issues. I learn the hard way!

That's my concern as well.

Well I let them all out to range and 12 big ol chicken tenders escaped into the coop. So I boarded it up gave then a nest and a feeder and they can stay. Added solar lights to keep then near the nest and waterer. Decent temps tonight.
Might go get then if it drops suddenly I'm home tonight! Took a paid day off for my birthday! Got caught up in a ton of clean up and organizing lol

Brought them in for tonight. Low 30s for over 6 hours and I was nervous. They're happy n full n sleeping lol
Weighing in at around 1.70 lbs each.

I moved here from waaaay up in Mass lol its as far south as we could get without buying sombreros!

Chicks are doing well. Crooks legs were taped yesterday after spending a day in a child's stacking toy ring to help her hips stay together. Her leg was splayed out :/ now there's a bandaid keeping her feet about 2 inches apart. She wobbles but isn't being run over by her roommates now who are double her size.

A few of the chicks have a black feather. Shoulder and back area, just a random one lol hmmmm.

This batch has been a rough ride lol quite a learning experience. I am so ready to kick arse with the next batch on the 3rd.

They're weighing in well. The cold through us for a loop.
Feedings only twice a day now. Once in the AM and once in the early PM.

I still can't upload pics to BYC have so many and its not as fun updating without them. Doh.
