Ok so we have the meatie batch 3 (same age as Kuntrys) they aren't growing nearly as quick! Still small chicks, feathering out now tho. They got outdoors all day, well 10-dusk. Once it warmed up I piled them in some bins and let them loose in they're sandbox- soon to be teenage coop area next to the Big birds...the big birds completely ignored them, the newest lil welsummer chick I have decided she wanted no part of these babies and was going to eat one. Shoot she's not much bigger than them but was told she's 4 months old. Sweetest chick hunts me down for hugs lol
But she got put out with the layers to range because, well she's a meanie to lil chicks so if she can act grown she can play with the grown ups. Didn't get a pic of her today but this is her on the snow days lol

I bought a couple boxes of heat lamps this week (2 for $8.00). They are usually $10.00 at Walmart or Lowe's.

I got to TSC Thursday.  Picked up a lamp and 2 bulbs.  A lamp and two bulbs for 16.00.  Pretty good deal, I think.  I probably should have gotten another lamp and another set of bulbs.

Good job!!!!!! Way to go!!! :thumbsup

Yes sorry, been slammed lately with work after our snow days off (all the birds came inside the rabbitry during our freeze last week!)

We processed 14, they are gone except 2 we put in the freezer for us last night and 1 I am cooking right now! Dang nab it I'm nervous to taste my own chicken. We worked very hard to get to this point lol better be the best dang chicken I have ever had! Unfortunately *I* am the one cooking it and we aren't even gonna talk about my burnt bridges with biscuits and cookies :/ BUT I smothered it in sea salt, pepper, Tonya and olive oil and am roasting it with Cilantro from our herb garden and sliced sustuma orange from our tree. I dig up the last of the red potatoes and tossed those in salted with olive oil at 300 degrees. It's been in an hour now and looks and smells divine, but still cooking lol so until I taste a fully free ranged, organic chicken I grew, butchered and cooked myself I don't wanna get too excited. :) I am tho hehehe
Before I put it in the oven...
