Ran out if Feed PLEASE HELP!!!

Almost a full week of being out of chick feed.....

I would be giving them some layer feed. Oats and other stuff is pretty low in protein. Layer may be higher in calcium but it is also higher in protein.
i was going to give them yogurt as protein is that fine ? but I'll mash up some layer pellets as well

Yogurt is a dairy product. Chickens are not designed to digest it. Best to go with what they CAN digest.
While a little yogurt occasionally won't cause harm a week of it is sure to cause runny poo.

i do have layer feed pellets but i thought that i can feed them that because its f
It's ok to feed them layer feed for a little while, but I wouldn't recommend switching them permanently yet. Younger chickens and layers have different nutritional needs. Baby food has more protein and other vitamins to help the babies grow big and strong. Layer feed has more calcium to make up for the loss of calcium caused by making eggs. If you feed the youngsters laying feed constantly it can cause kidney and liver problems from the excess calcium.
If you can let them out in the yard to free range, and give them some layer pellets, they shouldn't starve to death before next week. :thumbsup
Yeah layer pellets in large amounts can actually be damaging.

They’ll definitely need some more protein, do you have quinoa, lentils, or beans?
my mom says the same thing she said she would rather have them eat food we make for them instead of store bought chick food
And unless you do a lot of research, and they have lots of diverse terrain to free range on feeding them chick starter or at least chicken food is a must.

yes i do have quinoa

DO you have layer or flock pellets? I make mash put of that since I don't usually have enough chicks to justify buying a big bag of chick feed
You should just buy a large bag of starter-grower which will be something you should feed them from day 1-week 20 (or until the first egg appears) I only had 4 chicks this summer and they they went through a 40 pound bag of starter-grower in 13 weeks! You’d be surprised that they could go through a bag that size
