I made a mistake three weeks ago. I got distracted and didn't put the date on my calendar of when I put some eggs in the incubator (forgive this old lady). I have been watching them and this morning when I went out to check on the birds and chicks I checked the incubator and I saw an empty egg shell in the rack then I looked in further and saw a chick in the tray. I immediately turned on the hatcher and added some hot water to get the humidity and temperature up and put the eggs in it. When I went to put the eggs in the hatcher I noticed that an egg further back in the rack had also hatched so there were two chicks in the tray. Now I have to get their brooder ready. I did turn on the heat in a dry box and got the temperature up and put the two hatched chicks in the dry box for now. What an exciting morning.

What's a hatcher? How is it different from a bator?

A hatcher does not turn the eggs. It is strictly for hatching not incubating.
This is a new one mine is homemade. The drawer in the bottom is for chicks after they have hatched.

I always look forward to "trying new" feeders and chicken waterers, foggy mornings, dew on the ground, cool crisp air, a backyard bonfire and using my new blankets in the recliner.

I'm quite frustrated with my computer. It loads web pages sooo slow. I have deleted cookies, temp files and a few other things. It is still loading very slowly. I have done warm boots and cold boots and it's still takes forever to load pages. I don't know why, it was quite fast. Sadly my eyesight is failing which doesn't help. I like the voice thing so I don't have to type stuff out.
