randomly dying chickens

No fault, I just wanted to let you know...I missed it a couple times myself.
It's very sad this has happened. I just hope they solve the problem. I couldn't imagine loosing most of my flock. I have one sick girl with a sour crop I'm working with at the moment. I started her on Monistat 3 yesterday. She's one of my black copper marans. It's not always advisable but I had to drain her once because her crop looked large enough to bust.

! Wow - that's some rough stuff. I sure you you can get this figured out. Best of luck to you and hang in there.

Thanks everyone for your help. Has anyone heard of dog barking really close to chickens causing death? Someone told me it might. I'd never heard of it.

My neighbors have a golden doodle and the coop sits kind of along side their fence line. Their dog barks all the time.

Well that article makes since. I just checked on the girls and there is only one remaining chicken left I'm so sad:( I feel like a terrible person.

How old is your dog? If you are concerned, take a fecal sample to your vet and have him run a diagnostic on it. That will tell you if your dog has picked up anything. Unless it is a puppy, I wouldn't worry too much.

Ok so I only have one chicken left. And it's not doing well. I'm trying to save it, but I think it's to far gone. This is just heartbreaking.

Someone suggested to put food grade lime where the chickens pooped in the yard to keep the dog safe. Is that a good idea?
