I've laughed my way through this whole thread, it's hilarious!!! I've run into the whole rooster issue in the past, it's impossible to change these people's minds, don't try, just laugh and move on.
My mother used to tell a joke about 2 women in a grocery store check out line, one sees that the other has beef tongue in her cart and says "I can't believe you eat someting that comes out of a cow's mouth!" and the first replies, "Well, why not? You eat eggs don't you? They come out of a chicken's butt!" (hope that isn't too rude for here)
Anyway, I have to say that I grew up with brown eggs, and now that's what I prefer even though I KNOW there's no difference. It's really mostly sentimental on my part, and Oh, I've been known to say that about brown hens and white hens and egg color too... I just say USUALLY though. It's easier than explaining about the ear color, breeds and all the rest. It's true that Martha should have known better, but I'm not going to get too picky over it.
