I may have been on the job, but I would have had one on me regardless. Back to my origional post though, I stated either because of situation, job etc that many folks carry all the time every day... and I have a problem with the mentality that guns need to be locked up, trigger locks, ammo in seperate safe... and if needed the gun wouldn't be available.

Its like the argument that you take your keys out of your ignition of your car... don't let a good boy go bad. It's silly and ridiculous.

I do not carry my gun to work as a nurse.. because its not needed...how many people carry thier gun just because they are afraid.. what if oggie boogie jumps out to get me.... honestly i would rather get smacked around a little bit and yes god forbid raped then to be shot and killed with my own gun because a man could very easily over power me and take my weapon and use it against me....

My BIL is an armed guard with brinks. he drives an unmarked mini van and handles millions of dollars each and every day during transport... his weapon however is not allowed to leave the locked area of the office.. (aka "the cage")

how many weapons are on the streets that came from card permit holding households that have been broken into? or the little old lady who left her purse open in the grocery store?... or stolen from the gym locker?...(Ok you get my point) you dont need to carry a gun on you 24/7 for protection

Okay, that was kind of a joke, but not entirely!! In my small rural town of less than 5000 people, approximately 40% of said population, is flamin meth heads. I do not purposely go looking for trouble, I don't have to, it's there already, hopefully it won't find me. I worked in a prison where I felt safer than with some of these local nuts in a public place. Desperate for drugs people who have not had their fix in a couple days will do anything. I'd simply rather be prepared to defend myself from some of these huge beefy redneck men than not. I can't fight a 6'5 250 lb man, nor am I stupid enough to try without leveling the playing field. And from experience, kicking in the nether region doesn't aways work. I have scars to prove, and will not willingly take any more. Better safe than sorry IMHO. And I would also like to add....it's okay if you(meaning anyone) don't feel the same way, no big deal, just don't judge me for feeling the way I do for the reasons that I do.

you value your "freedoms" and thats all well and good....

for the most part (not all) cause there is an exception to every rule... but for the most part.. Canadians do not feel its necessary to carry a gun to a PTA meeting

Every cop I know carrys a gun when they are off duty.
I can say that becouse I carry a gun several years a go I shot a pit bull that was trying to remove an 8 year old girls face at a local swimming hole. Another time I walked in to a store where the girl behind the counter passed me a note that sayd the other man in the store had thretened her an was waiting for me to leave. I took coat off showing my gun an he ran. I can go on.
