Okay, that was kind of a joke, but not entirely!! In my small rural town of less than 5000 people, approximately 40% of said population, is flamin meth heads. I do not purposely go looking for trouble, I don't have to, it's there already, hopefully it won't find me. I worked in a prison where I felt safer than with some of these local nuts in a public place. Desperate for drugs people who have not had their fix in a couple days will do anything. I'd simply rather be prepared to defend myself from some of these huge beefy redneck men than not. I can't fight a 6'5 250 lb man, nor am I stupid enough to try without leveling the playing field. And from experience, kicking in the nether region doesn't aways work. I have scars to prove, and will not willingly take any more. Better safe than sorry IMHO. And I would also like to add....it's okay if you(meaning anyone) don't feel the same way, no big deal, just don't judge me for feeling the way I do for the reasons that I do.

there are many of meth heads that will takt the shot and they will keep coming.. and then steal your gun and then use it against you... i would rather give him/her my purse and car keys and go home to my children at night then have them view me in a pine box...

I did not say that... police officers go through a heck of a lot more training to protect their weapon then the average joe it comes down to knowledge and training, and ability.... and yes there a few officers within my local police force that should only be able to carry their flashlight cause they are to concerned about their Timmies (coffee)

That's quite true- basically it comes down to personal decisions. I don't carry concealed, but because of where we live I do keep some concealed aroud the house. Oddly enough, my favorite "weapon" is pepper spray.

That is why I have had firearms training BEFORE getting a gun. They cannot take it away with the clip in. I wouldn't think of carrying without the knowledge. If you shoot in the right place, they don't/can't keep coming. I also know how to defend myself hand to hand, but would rather not try my skills on someone twice or three times my size. Thus the gun. I understand what you are saying, and that is great if that is what is best for you. But being a SAHM travelling with my two girls, (insert situation), I will carry everywhere because I have the right and feel the need to not risk the off chance. I hope and pray I never have to even pull my gun, but the comfort of knowing it's there if, God forbid, the need arises......is priceless.

You are correct that the culture is quite different when it comes to guns. However if I may gently suggest that if you've discharged your gun, and the other party is still comming, you did not aim correctly. The point of using the gun is as an item of last resort, not to give someone a flesh wound, if you pull it out, you need to be ready to use it, and that means to take a life. If someone is not comfortable with that, then they would be better off not armed, as hesitation will do more harm.

I'd love to live in a world where guns were utterly unnessary, unfortunatly, I live in this world.
