There are hundreds of collages in the US an a hand full alow people to carry on campass. Those collages have the lowest crime. Many of the big collages have been talking about going pro gun lately becouse of that.

I just did a quick search and all I could find was some lawsuits about students who want to carry gun on campus. No statistics on which colleges allow guns & lowered crime rates. Where did you find your info? I would like to look into that.

I havent heard of any colleges allowing guns on campus, let alone haveing lower crime rates because of it.

Oh. I will keep looking to try to find out. I do remember something after the last school shooting about should teachers be allowed to have guns to protect themselves & students. My husband who is a teacher/administrator thought that would probably cause more problems than offset enough "school shootings". Mainly because he says that the kids are often troubled or devious and might somehow get a hold of a gun from a teacher. And many teachers are incapable of being responsible with a weapon. he said he favored armed security instead. We had MP's as security at my HS and guess what, it was a pretty safe enviorment while they were in charge of security.

Come on you cant just throw a statement like that out there without haveing a shred of evidence to back yourself up, google it then post back with real facts.

I think we are able to be on this site, reading this thread, posting our comments (whichever way they lean) due to the fact that we are able to own and carry guns. It is a deep issue, it is not about merely owning guns. They are not curling irons. They are our freedom.

As for Canada being different than the United States on gun rights, thank you for noticing. Many of our own citizens are not aware of the difference, or do not feel there should be a difference. Whether you feel an American should be free to protect himself is a moot point. I'm sure there is some comfort in knowing that despite your apparent disregard for our freedoms, we will still risk our lives to protect yours.

Whether or not someone chooses to have a gun to protect themselves means nothing to me. Whether or not I choose to protect them with mine is up to me.

There are 24 states that expressly prohibit concealed carry on college campuses by persons with a valid concealed handgun license/permit. These states are Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, and Wyoming. Texas law specifically prohibits concealed carry on campus but includes a clause which allows an individual college/university to 'opt out' of the law and allow concealed carry.

15 "Right-to-Carry" states leave the decision of concealed carry on college campuses entirely to each college/university. A person with a license/permit who was caught carrying a firearm on a college campus could not be held criminally liable but students and employees of a university would be expelled or have their employment terminated. These states are Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Virginia, Washington, and West Virginia.

Though these states contain a few colleges/universities, such as Colorado State University (Fort Collins, CO) and Blue Ridge Community College (Weyers Cave, VA), that allow concealed carry on campus, most prohibit it. Utah is the only state to allow concealed carry at all public colleges/universities, by prohibiting public colleges/universities from creating their own restrictions.

Among the "Right-to Carry" states, Alabama, Connecticut and Iowa are considered "discretionary/reasonable issue" states. Though applications for licenses in these states are seldom denied, local authorities can and do place their own restrictions on licenses/permits. Iowa, Alabama, and Connecticut do not have laws prohibiting concealed carry on college campuses, although a prohibition against concealed carry on college campuses can be included as one of the restrictions imposed by the local sheriff's office that issues the license or permit.

The state laws in the 8 "May-Issue" states typically don't include prohibitions against concealed carry on college campuses because licenses/permits in most of these states are issued so rarely. Local sheriffs in these states typically only issue licenses/permits to individuals who can "show a need," such as celebrities, private investigators, politicians, and persons who have taken out a restraining order against another individual. Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York expressly prohibit, through state law, concealed carry on college campuses. Though Hawaii is technically a "May-Issue" state, licenses/permits are never issued by Hawaiian officials, under any circumstances.

Vermont neither offers nor requires a license/permit for a person over the age of 16 to carry a handgun (open or concealed). Vermont state law prohibits possessing a firearm "within a school building or on a school bus" but, like the laws in several other states, does not specify if the term "school" encompasses institutions of post-secondary education or if it refers only to primary and secondary schools. For the purposes of this analysis, the states which ambiguously include "schools" on the list of places where concealed carry is prohibited, without defining the term, are included in the list of 25 states that expressly prohibit concealed carry on college campuses.

*Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wyoming

Note: Alaska and Vermont allow concealed carry but do not require a license/permit. Alaska only offers a concealed handgun license to allow for reciprocity with other states.

**California, Delaware, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island

Note: Alabama, Iowa and Connecticut are sometimes considered "May-Issue" states by a select few organizations but are typically considered "Right-to-Carry" states as requests for licenses/permits are seldom denied.

***Illinois and Wisconsin

Copied and pasted from the site above mentioned. I haven't found statistics of whether or not crimes on these campuses have declined. But, they do allow concealed carry on campus.
