You did the right thing. It's one thing for her to discipline children without a parent around and completely another to do it right in front of their parent. It shows that not only did she want to exercise power over your child, she also wanted to have power over you. Guess that didn't work out so well for her, did it....

I am really surprised that the teachers and staff did not take care of the problem when it occurred if it were such a problem. Every school event or concert I have been to has been well controlled. Regardless of whether or not there was an adult in charge those the kids or not, someone on the school staff would have intervened if it were needed. So, I am wondering if there really was the huge issue that this lady complained about, or if she was being overly sensitive? In any case, she should not have dealt directly with a student, but should have made her complaint through those in charge of the event.

You did nothing to apoligize for, this other woman was out of line and is used to people backing down from her. That gives her power over them to bully them and their kids, unless other parents step up and follow your example she will bully everyone.

I really really hate people like that. Got into an arguement years ago with a guy when I was working at a ski resort. Full of himself and didn't want to listen to my suggestion. I told him off.
Friend looked at me and asked if I knew who that guy was? Took another look and realized I had just chewed out Huey Lewis and I didn't care.

You were right, she was wrong and I don't care you she is, she's classless. Money doesn't, mean anything when you're anything like her.

You apologize and she's got you! She'll eat that up and give her more power.

If you have to do it then say "I am sorry we had that conflict, but I was right and I hope we don't have to do this again" then hand her the number to a charm school.

Sonoran-there were no guardians or school officials around as they were all inside watching the show. We really do have a calm drama free town-as far as problems with students and functions-aLways goes off without a hitch The only people meandering were the folks like me taking their chicldren home after they completed their band portion of the show-since our kids aren't in chorus, we don't stay for the whole show-I could have but I was whipped and it didnt get over until after 10pm and I live 1/2 away:-( I have a feeling that woman would ahve waited until after the show and done the same thing except in front of a much larger crowd! I realy am glad not that many people were around-the bigger the crowd the bigger the drama and uuuuugh...what happened was big enough in my book
