Rant!! D*#~*!!!! It's Hot In South Louisiana

I'll 2nd the rant

I was at a dog show near Katy (outside of Houston) and all of our poor danes were panting there poor selves near to death. The judge (a heavy set older man) actually had to go throw up in the bathroom b/c he got so overheated and nearly passed out from the heat! I think it's a bit warmer up t'words Katy that over here on the Tx/La border though. Just my observance...plus all the smog there. It as a rough day...glad I'm not going back tomorrow. Those dirt floors weren't packed well & have me & my 3.5 yr old both feeling sick & sore throated.
Now...do you feel better you have someone to commiserate with?

P.S. To all the board members...until you feel a Gulf Coast Summer...you don't KNOW hot

I'll 3rd that, lol. Way too hot yesterday, had to run some water in the ditch for my hot chickens.Night before, the old familiar constant humming of bugs came back

Springtime doesn't last long enough for me.

Would you believe we had a record high temp yesterday of 90 degrees? It was pure summer time! But this morning it's 52 with a strong north/northeast wind. Feels good!
I know we've got 4 months of hot, humid summer coming but please, not now, mid March.

I take no offense, and I'm willing to trade just one day like yours for one day like mine. We moved into our new home 9 days ago. 375 miles north of where we used to live ( we were just south of Boston), to North/Eastern Maine on the Canadian border. We've had not one day go above 35 degrees, 5 days of active snow- and they tell us it's been a record breaking winter!! Our barn is buried and there's no way we'll be able to start in the wonderful world of chickens for months ahead-- there's too much snow to even see what our land looks like

So- let me know when you wanna trade-- we need some good warm melting days !

Hahahah! We don't call the central savanah river area (CSRA) of Georgia and SC the armpit of the south for nothing. Talk about land locked sweltering heat with 100% humidity ...

It makes you feel like you are melting for all those days that stretch out between July and the first of September.

The really sad part of it all is the heat related deaths especially in newborns and the elderly who do not have a/c available to them.

Yogi, I'll take some of that rain. We were in a drought last year and haven't had enough water over the winter to make up for it. By August I had to let my garden die. I couldn't afford to water it. We are on a well so we had to conserve our water too.

I have been here all my life except for my military time and I have never been able to adapt to the heat. I have zero tolerance for the heat and humidity. I would have made an excellent "snow bird". I can do many things to warm up and stay warm in the cold. But forgive me, I can't even get naked and cool off in this miserable heat and humidity. And get this, I grew up here without air conditioning! I have no idea how I survived that. My central air unit is on 12 months of the year.
I think right now I would welcome some of your cold and snow. Take care and stay warm.

:DShoot, I live just about an hour away from Katy and dang it was hot here yesterday. Got my chicks moved to the old coop as they are almost 6 weeks old. Tell me about this Gulf Coast Weather!!!! Lived here all my 46 years and boy when we take a trip up the Hill Country, we just nearly go into shock because of the humidity change.

For you folks who have no idea what a Gulf Coast Sweltering heat feels like, here's a little tip, you feel like you have sticky syrup all over your body and no matter how many baths you take, it won't go away!

I set out on an afternoon walk yesterday.... regretting it quickly. I was just extremely grateful the humidity was down. And now I wake up and it's chilly enough for a light jacket. -shakes head- I don't understand.

It was almost 90 here on Friday at baseball practice with my son and all the kids got a little sunburn. I know the south LA weather well. All my family live in St. Francisville, Baton Rouge, and surrounding areas. The humidity is what gets me. BUT you guys have the prettiest flowers and such because of it.
