For my birthday I asked for a goose house. LOL
For our anniversary I asked for something in the barn to be built.
Aren't we country gals the bomb??? LOL
Gotta love us country girls.......
One year I got a garden hose, a gift certificate for animal feed and 2 five gallon buckets for Christmas because THAT IS WHAT I ASKED FOR...Yep that's what my hubby got me....And I still use them to this day(well not the feed certificate as that was used up right away).
We don't do Valentine's in the mushy gooshy way either. Never have...Actually we have never spent but 1 Valentine's together because of hubbys civilian job or deployment. The only one we ever spent together was 2/14/98. And I was in the hospital in Rochester MN. I had my kidney removed on 2/13/98 (day before V-Day and it was FRIDAY THE 13th to boot). Other than the morphine I was on, there was no mushy gooshy celebrating that day either.
Although my brother in law gave me the cutest little card. I still have it to this day.
It was one you get with flowers...He wrote on it.......
Roses are Red
Violets are Blue
You have 1 kidney
But I have 2!!!!!
When I read that I ended up crying because I was trying to laugh and it hurt so bad to laugh, but I think I hit the morphine drip button and all pain was gone....
Like I said I still have that card 11 years later...
My husband does things like buy hand lotion and leave it in the car for me as a surprise. Or he will stop by the library to look for books by my favorite authors. Give me that any day!
I feel sorry for those women who need the flowers and the candy on Valentines Day to feel like thier hubby's care for them.
My DH is NOT a romantic but every once in a while it will strike him. Yesterday I was at work and in the hospital gift shop they were having a 75% off on the purses, I am not usally a purse person BUT I found a little hand bag and really wanted it but I did have my wallet. Hubby drove all the way across town AFTER buying MY chicken feed and bought the little purse for me. NOW that is what Valentines/romance is about, doing something special for someone without a reason other than you LOVE them.
He shows he loves me by letting me get increasing amounts of chickens....
I guess he'd rather me have them than something useless and expensive.
He comes home everynight. What else can I ask for??
Lauren
My husband and I are all about the practicality (sp) when giving gifts, never for any special holiday, just cause we want to do something for each other. I have a co-worker that is all about the material things, it's sad really, and she looks down on my husband for not giving me lavish gifts and flowers... All the while her husband is wrecking cars and getting put in jail, but he sends her those roses on v-day and puts his pay check in the bank so she stays with him and constantly belittles him to anyone who will listen... I'm stopping now.
It would be really sweet if my Honey would surprise me with baby chicks for V-Day
I would love it.
We dont do much either... I dont need or want fancy things. I usually fix a nice dinner for us and the kids.....
one year I did this and set the table all pretty, made date coupons for our kids (that was their V-Day gifts from us), set out the candles , wine glasses and one of our sons served everyone (he was our waiter) The kids thought this was so cool. Think I'll do it again this year
He cooks dinner when I am so tired I can't move.
He pays all the bills ON TIME.
He helps clean the house whenever I ask.
He folds laundry.
He changed diapers, wiped tears, rocked babies, and sang to them every night.
He got up every night with both of ours.
He will build just about anything I want.
Why do I need Valentine's Day??????
If he is still around after all we have been through together, it must be love or something??? Don't get me anything Valentine's. I already have it ALL the other 364.
