No sir, but you didnt need to ridicule me. It was a lesson that I had to learn,and im attempting to learn it well. I just dont appriciate the negative comments that you made. Personally, Joe... I think you were rather harsh. In fact, I think your comments in the other photo thread were a bit harsh too. Are you a professional photographer who feels amateurs are stealing your business or something? I often ran into "professional" photographers with your attitude when I first got into photography.

Goat_Walker, you're not a professional, right? How into photography are you? A serious amateur? -- When I was first starting out this could have easily happened to me. In fact, something of a similar fashion did occur to my work. A company that manufactured board games asked us to submit photos to them for a new game they were working on. I understood that in submitting my work, I was granting that company an exclusive creative commons license with which they would print the photos they wanted for their game. What I wasn't counting on was them leaving the full resolution images online for anyone to download. People assumed they had the right to download them and use them however they saw fit. But they did not have permission, none of them compensated me and barely any even gave me the courtesy of a name credit. I hunted down dozens of websites and first requested that they either remove the images or gave me a name credit. Those that didn't respond to the request were then sent a notice informing them that if they did not remove the image from their site, I would pursue legal action against them. That cleared up most of the mess. But in the time those people had my images on their sites illegally, other people had downloaded them from there. And so on, and so forth. The other poster was right. Share your work, but put your watermark / name somewhere on the image file. I do hope things get straightened out with the original photo you posted about.

Do you still have the picture on your camera? You can use that as proof. Please don't let her get away with this!!! That's so not fair!

it is interesting that her name somehow got onto your work.

at our state fairs we're allowed to submit photos but we have to put a sticker on the back of the matt board with all our info-full name, exhibitor # and the class and category it should be in. you also have to fill out a page that goes to each department with the entries identified so when you go to pick up your cash/check in the department at the end of the fair they can give you the correct $$ and any ribbons you received. (they do a dutch judging system so many ribbons given out)

it is always a good idea to personally sign the back of the photo itself too! that way if there is ever any doubt about ownership you can mention it to the person giving you back the picture that your name should be on it and the wrong person took credit for the win.

Another thing..if you really care about her as a friend as you are telling us. Please, teach her this VERY important life lesson! Because maybe the next person she does it to wont be as nice as you..Soo, really you are just helping her in the end.

Several years ago while visiting family, I took a pic of my SIL's dog in a cowboy hat. It really was a great pic. I thought she would enjoy a copy and sent her one. Well, she sent it to "Country" magazine, and it was published there. Then she entered it in a photo contest and won! I don't send her anymore pics.

I'm sorry, but she was never your friend because friends don't do things like that to each other. I'd still report her and show them the proof. It might not change anything from the contests she's already won but maybe they will ban her from future shows or at least keep a really close eye on her.

What a crappy person she is.
