Rant! Stupid &^%#$ @#$$% mobile butchers!

Now, what do you do with the tail?
When I was little my mom used to make "Oxtail Soup" in her crockpot, but she told us that was just a funny name for it and it wasn't made from tails. Was it?

Just think about those delicious T-bones and ribeyes coming your way, eventually. I am so glad to hear that you have not smoked in 3 days, way to go. Take it one day at a time, get it in your head you are not going to give into that gross habit ever again. I'm proud of you. I did it about 8 yrs ago and have never went back. Ex smokers are the worst critics of smoking. Hang in there. Oh, and rant on, is that all you have, come on, come on, just don't smoke.

I didn't realize how fortunate we are. We have about 5 processors to choose from. We had always used the same one until a few weeks ago. Our neighbor gave us a Black angus who was right under a year old. She was needing one taken to the butcher too, so we got my 2nd cousin to take them. We had to go to the one she used. I personally don't like him and won't use him again. He was expensive, $0.65 lb. I've never paid more than $0.33 lb. Also he charged $48 to kill and I've never paid more than $20. His pesonality left a lot to be desired too. But I can't complain too much about the prices since the cow was free, and she's turned out the be the most tender I've ever eaten. I've never had T-bones that are "melt in your mouth" tender.

Good luck on getting everything taken care of. And resist the urge to

rant away here, it probably is the kicking the addiction. Since your choices are few, I would not go off too hard as they can just refuse you in future. From you description of their business, it's probably hard to run any kind of schedule. I can only imagine the tales they can tell in their business.

Good luck on kicking nicotine; stay strong, it will end.

Thanks for the good words guys! I did not kill the butcher but when he pulled up he did get out and ask if I was going to kill him LOL. He apologized, I apologized and he took care of the cow, so that's good and I'm now happy. Although when I told him I wanted the tongue this time, he just cut it out and handed it to me. DH just laughed and laughed. I just took it and walked it back to the house. Later DH said he probably handed it to me like that to get back at me for being such and ass to him. DH said that he saw the bags sitting there on the truck. Oh well, I just washed it off and put in in a bag in the fridge. There was no way I was gonna let Mike the butcher have the upper hand.

Today is day five for not smoking at all. I freaked out a little on DH yesterday, my nerves where shot. Today I'm way better. I honestly am really proud of myself for not giving in and smoking I chew alot of gum and have had to literally change the way I do things. Anything that triggers me like coffee, driving, after a big meal, has all changed because I don't like the feeling I get when I need/want a smoke. So, I also haven't had a freaking cup of coffee since Monday. That is driving me crazy!

Someone suggested gummy bears so I eat those like a hog while driving, anything to keep my mouth busy. I ate a big meal tonight and then wanted a smoke, so i had to get up and just stay busy.

If you read my other post on COPD, thats why I've stopped smoking. I'm breathing a little easier and am weaning off the nebulizer a little. I just thank God that I'm still breathing and have the strenght to do this. I cry alot which is so strange to me. Its pretty tough to let go of something that has ahold of you for 21 years.

I'm scared of the weekend. It will be a challenge I think to be home and left to my own devices. I bought wood and stuff in town and intend on doing some coop remodel. Wish me luck surviving the weekend since EVERYONE in my family smokes. Fortunately they can't do it in the house, so maybe I'll make it. I've been pretty grump about it and told everyone there is no smoking anywhere on our property. I don't even want it to smell it in the air. I'll bet it goes over like a lead balloon and I don't really care.

Thanks for listening again guys!

Way to go, im glad everything worked out. Just dont start smoking again! My grandpa had a stroke 5 years ago from smoking, and my grandma just had a massive stroke on thursday from smoking. They were both very lucky, my grandpa just had several mini strokes, but had to have open heart surgery, and mt grandma was a massive stroke, but insted of blowing up her brain, it found a like empty spot (sounds funny) but it weht there and just shifted the brain. Now she can still talk and is fine. But here artirie in her neck is blockd, so she has to have surgery. And my grandpa picked up smoking after his sugery, he is asking for it. The thing is that my grandma was on chantix about a year ago, but my grandpa wouldnt quit with her, so she tried and treid, but she was arround it and started again. If she would hav qit then, she wouldnt be in the hospital now. So PLEASE dont do that to your self!
