This isnt a typical political rant. I am flat out torqued by all the people who keep stopping by my house to ask me if I have voted yet or how I intend to vote or where I intend to vote. I just had another one stop by. These voting nazis are insistant on knowing where and when I intend on voting. Had 3 of them from different groups stop by today alone and had no less than 6 last week. My husband has taken to demanding to know who they voted for in the last presidential election and when they tell him its none of his business who they voted for he tells them "Exactly right" and shuts the door in their face. I just chased the last one off the property with the help of my 100 pound dobie/boxer mix. Now dont get me wrong I vote. I did it by mail in ballot. Im not against voting. I believe it to be my responsibilty as well as my privelage, but dang it when did it become ok to harrass people in their homes about voting? What if I didnt see anyone worthy on the ballot and decided to abstain as is MY RIGHT? I shouldnt have to explain daily where I voted or how I voted. We are also getting up to a dozen political calls a day on the landline and nothing I do stops those calls. I had 5 yesterday alone from the same group. 5 on SUNDAY for heavens sake!!

I am beyond annoyed by the persistance, its bordering on flat out harrassment and I dont know how to make it stop. Before chasing off this last one I asked him how to get off his list and he told me that the only way to avoid all the calls and visits was to drop my voter registration!!! I cannot freaking believe that the only way to stop this is to give up my right to vote? What the heck? I was under the impression that like religion I have the freedom FROM politics if I so choose. Not according to the voting nazis.
End of rant sorry if I offended anyone

I had to put ONE politician sign up in my yard.........the voting people stopped coming. For some reason, it worked! Even I do not want to vote this time because of the negative ads displaying on TV, it does not tell me what one would DO for me if they were voted.

Wow, that does seem a bit extreme! Have you tried calling the police and ask for advice? Perhaps post NO SOLICITING signs?

We get calls, but have caller ID. I ignore them, DH likes to talk to them, so if he is home, he picks up and talks to them. I have rarely if ever had anyone come to my house. I am somewhat rural so maybe that is why, but still. We had an issue with signs one year, where one candidate asked if they could put their sign in our yard and DH told them no, when asked why, he told them, because I don't support that candidate. Next day, the sign was in our yard anyway. Dh took it down and threw it in the garage. Next day, there was another one! Dh took that one down and threw it in the garage too. They tried one more time, this time DH replaced it with the opponents sign and they gave up. I thought that took alot of nerve! We are on a corner, so evidently a prime spot, but come on!

I direct them to the no trespassing sign and when they call on the phone I get a name, write down their phone number, and who they are calling for then I ask if they have heard of the "do not call list". And read back their info to make sure I get it correct when I report them.

when a fat hillbilly out of deliverance and a .45 answers the door they suddenly remember they meant to stop in to the house Next door.. so sorry, my bad.. Oddly enough only one had the guts to ask me and we sat down on the porch and had a smoke. Turns out he was the grass roots guy for ron paul back when he was running in 2008. Almost stayed for dinner but his wife called 'cuz he wasn't home lol.

I've gotten a lot of those calls this year -- I just hang up on them. They have almost all been recordings; couldn't talk to them if I wanted to. I am not in the habit of answering the door when I am not expecting anyone. I could care less that they can hear me inside. Interesting that the "get out the vote" movement will likely result in fewer voters....

I used to work nights and sleep on the other side of what appeared to be the front door. I got so mad at the Jehovah's Witnesses (or whoever they were) that I now have zero tolerance for anyone who enters my property without m my permission, be it by phone or in person.

If I ever bother to answer, I just remind them that voting is done by secret ballot and I don't know them well enough to tell them my secrets.

We have been getting up to 4 calls a day for the last week or so. The majority of them are the automated calling services, with so & so calling on behalf of so & so. My better half works the grave yard shift and it isn't pretty when she is being woken up all day long.
