RANT with tears

I recently had a problem with an owl lamp. The woman said it was broke when it arrived, thankfully I put insurance on it myself. Then she tried to tell me to refund her $$ but since it had insurance she needed to go to the P/O to get refunded. I let Ebay and Paypal KNOW she was a con artist. She told me she was gonna send pics of the broken lamp and instead sent me a pic of the box...finally after (she broke it herself) I am assuming I get a pic of the broken lamp. I let Paypal know exactly what she wanted. She wanted to keep the lamp, then get a refund from me and then a refund from the P/O. Ebay is a LOVE/HATE thing for me.

It's why I withdraw from my paypal asap. That way if they screw me like that, I can just walk away from the account. Paypal wants to refund a con artist? Fine, but they are doing it out of their pocket, not mine.

I don't know how you are set up with PayPal, but that's not an option for me. As a former big-time ebay seller, they have my bank account and credit card numbers- and they can draft it straight out if the PP balance is not adequate. I dislike PP intensely, but since I still sell on other venues, I am stuck with them.

I do NOT sell on ebay anymore- I use www.onlineauction.com now for non-vintage items. For items over 20 years I use www.etsy.com.

To the OP- get the anger and upset under control and then contact PayPal. They should not have refunded after 2 months. Keep bugging them, in your most polite but insistent manner.

Good luck!

ETA, file with ebay too.

I had the exact same thing happen. I sold a woman some supplies. 3 months later, without warning, I had $185 taken from my PP with an email stating that the woman said that she never authorized the charges. She had sent me at least 5 emails telling me she loved the stuff I sent her and even ordered more! She claimed it was someone pretending to be her.

I haven't sold on ebay since.

Contact the attorney general in the state she resides and file charges. You were scammed and she belongs in jail. Also contact paypals fraud office and make them aware you are filing with the AG. You have a valid civil suit against paypal.

You can remove that information from your account. You might try moving to google checkout instead, you can send invoices through them much the same as you can through paypal, and to date they haven't been as rabidly idiotic as paypal has.

And unfortunately, you can't sue paypal for it, or they would have been sued out of oblivion by now.

. And that's another reason we don't do Ebay any more.
