Rant...Yucca

Blueberries grow in Alaska and other north countries. I don't think it's the cold, it's probably soil and other conditions like moisture. Notice I said moisture, not rain?

Back to the yucca topic now.

I have NEVER tried it. (Kudzu doesn't grow HERE --- although it might, if watered.) I have seen it covering most EVERYTHING in places of Western North Carolina.

I have HEARD....IF cooked "correctly", Kudzu is a VERY NUTRITIOUS plant. I also "heard" that it was originally established "Down South" as a cheap and efficient feed for Farm Animals.

I really don't know...but this is some of what I have heard over the years....

I haven't the slightest idea what it might taste like....but IF it is anything LIKE "Turnip Greens"...I ain't eatin' it !!!

Yucca is closer to a potato than a turnip. Here it is cooked whole in chicken broth and served in a bowl like soup. It seems to absorb the broth and seasoning flavor without getting mushy like potatoes.

Pretty similar regulations in Arizona, but it depends on hte exact plant and its location. The are a lot pickier on developers than individual homeowners, but there is also a difference between say, a saguaro, and something that grows more readily.

Agave are not yucca. Tequila is made from the blue agave (agave tequilana), maguey is one of several other names for the plant: also mezcal and tequila agave. There are other agaves that can produce a similar liquors, but they cannot be called tequila (nor can any liquor not produced in specific areas of Jalasco, Mexico).

These are not Joshua Trees, they are an invasive import from Southern Mexico. Usually something someone bought as a 5 gallon house plant that they got tired of and left out side.

Look up Yucca Elephantipes vs Yucca Brevifolia

Ours are the ugly ones like an old aunt would in her yard in the 70's to look hip and modern

Oh...and I loaded and unloaded 620 lbs, 1100 lbs and still have another 300lbs in the truck.....I should mention that I already hauled off about 1000lbs from when I trimmed the middle section (I dried the top parts, so they were pretty easy to dump....other than 100000 poke holes from the spikey tips)

I haven't liked ANY FORM or FASHION of a "cactus" since I unintentionally "dismounted" a horse and landed in some Prickly-Pear.

Irradicate it !!!

OUCH ! (still tender...and that was 50 years ago.)

I wish I could any of those invasive plants to grow here...

Most would not be invasive in my soil (alkiline) and our extreme climate.

Yep. I remember laying on my stomach on the livingroom floor waiting for my mom to get home.
