I've heard EEs can be sexed by color, somewhat.

Hatcheries tend to send males as "extras" since females are ordered far more often and they tend to have a surplus of males.

Me too! I guessed EE but what says "cockeral," for us novices?
 
It's an EE cockerel. The coloring is the first clue. The fact that it was the free chicken and listed as "rare and exotic" is another clue - they give away the boys. For some reason hatcheries think Ameraucana-crosses (more correctly called an Easter Egger) are rare and exotic. They are wonderful birds and come in all sorts of colors, but they are now a very common chicken and are not rare at all.

Typically, an EE with a dark head and white across the shoulders like yours is a cockerel. Wait about four months and you'll know for sure. Forrest is very cute and I'm sure he will turn into a beautiful rooster.
