Rare chicken breed that makes a good pet?

How about Euska Oiloa, the Basque hen. Just getting started in America. Very rare. From Basque Spain via Canada. Said to be the friendliest chicken in the world. The day old chicks will run to you and try to clumb up on your hand. I think Skyline Poultry has a list of breeders.
Best,
Karen in western PA, USA

I went on Skyline Poultry and I didn't see a list of breeders. Where is the part of the sight it said this? I saw there selling fertile eggs of this breed but where else can you get some that aren't hatching eggs but day-old chicks.

Hum, let's see. Well there is an Euskal Oiloa discussion list here on BYC. It's at :
https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/510045/euskal-oiloa-basque-thread
Here is a history of the breed in North America:
http://www.euskaloiloas.com/
and an explanation of the breed:

Just start asking around and see who might have something for you :)
Really the best place to hang out with EO folk is right here in BYC.
Best Success,
Karen

Greenfire farms sells basque hens but they are problably the most expensive ($20.00 a peice). The other option is if you go on rarebreed auctions greenfire has a mature trio for sale from their originally imported stock. Personally I like Swedish Flower Hens they are also $20.00 a piece at greenfire but my exp with them is that they are a very friendly good looking dual purpose bird.
