RARE DOG! Anybody own or breed a Picardy spaniel?

His registered name is SBD Posejpal's Brsingr.... yeah, somehow the 2nd "i" was left out and I didn't notice it until it was too late to fix it. So now I call it "avoiding copyright" lol

Sometimes rare breeds can be really hard to get a puppy unless you are involved in the breed. I'm not sure how rare they are internationally though. They could just be rare here in the US. They would simply be FCI registered. http://www.scc.asso.fr/ is the office for France. They will be able to tell you if there are any breeders in the US or Canada.

Thanks for looking! Actually, I found that link before, but I didn't bother to call, since it was so dated. However, I think it is certainly worth calling. If they had dogs then, they may still be breeding now. I would love to find a puppy in the U.S. The article said that the breeder imported the parents from France, so if he doesn't have any pups now, maybe I could get some advice on how to order a puppy from France. Thank you all for your time and help. I really appreciate it.

My dogs (smallest to largest):

Tux - Imperial Shih Tzu

Punky - 6 month old Red Heeler

Whiskey - Chesapeake Bay Retriever

Dierks- Anatolian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees cross. He's our LGD for the yak and sheep.

Unfortunately, other than playing fetch and swimming in the creek, Whisk is a poor excuse for a bird dog. He is gun-shy due to lack of early training, and he's 6 now, so not on our to-fix list. He's still in the terrible-twos (typical of retrievers) mentally. We're hoping he outgrows it here shortly.

Hi, I can tell you we accept them at North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association, I have note in to see if we have any registered. I have been judging for around 11 years and have never seen one at a test. But, someone must have had them at some point, I will report back what I find out.
The website is navhda.org, you can check test results there by breed if you really want to do some snooping.

Here are a few of mine!

Good luck! I hope you end up with the dog you want. They are really beautiful.

These are my rescue dogs (I like to this of them as super heros: Rescue!Dogs)

Wow! Your dogs are beautiful! They are German Shorthairs right? One of my favorites, though I have never owned one. I won't be hunting with my dog ( l don't really like shooting things), but I live on 120 acres of conservation land, so the dog will get long walks in the woods. I am also considering trying agility with him/her. I hope it works out. I am calling a former breeder in Missouri to see if he has any dogs or will in the near future.
