This was the last offer. On Siz's website, there are Silkies, BTWJ and Marans. I'm going to PM to see if Siz will make another offer.

Hmmm... Sounds like some have a sense of entitlement here.

As the OP, I did send out the first package of eggs and bit it for the postage. In trying to keep the chain alive, I did offer more eggs which would mean biting it again for postage. I want this to work for us. It would just be nice for others to sound like they respect the time and money I put into this. (I do take a hit when I offer eggs for free because I normally get $20 for 6 hatching eggs plus I'm paying postage.)

If Siz wanted to pay postage, that would be nice. I'm not asking for anything in return but polite sensitivity rather than near demands.

Oh, I'm so sorry, I hope you're not meaning me... I am a newcomer who was just trying to figure out and clarify what was going on!

In saying this (below), I just meant that it looked like people hadn't noticed your new offer Dandelion (which was of course very generous)
I think per post #609, Dandelion also put up 6 Appenzeller spitzhauben or 6 Egyptian Fayoumi, so I think the taker can take their choice of the three breeds up for grabs.

Sorry if I made waves, that wasn't my intention at all.
I am interested in this chain if my silver spangled Hamburgs qualify- They're on strike at the moment but whenever they consent to start laying eggs again for me I hope this chain is still around!

Bananas, egg swap threads can be very confusing. Still yet, they are so interesting and fun... We live and we learn. I'm glad to have you here. I'm not upset at anyone. Kind of funny you mentioning your Silver Spangled Hamburgs not laying. That's what is laying best for me right now. The hens have their own minds...

On questions concerning if a breed is rare, I go to a number of places to check but this is one of the easiest to find and read:

http://www.ithaca.edu/staff/jhenderson/chooks/chooks.html

If you put "rare chicken breeds" in your browser, it's the first thing that comes up.

Bananas, I consider the Hamburgs being fit for this swap. They are considered less common by Henderson's Chart and they are in watch status on the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy.

This has been something I wanted to ask. Look at Orpingtons on the Henderson chart. Buffs are 88% (very common). All other colors are 8%. Does that make all other colors "rare" for this threads purpose?

Yes, all colors besides buff would be considered rare for the Orpingtons and welcomed here.

I would like to add 8% is a rather low percentage for Henderson's Chart. These are definitely birds that need a little help.

I still interested but it will be a few weeks before I have pure eggs again. Just getting ready to put the birds back in their pure breed pens.

I do have Mottled Javas pullets that have just started to lay so may have some of those to offer.

Majestic - I see why you are asking the question about the Orpingtons. You have some beautiful lavender and splash Orps. Those fit in nicely.

corancher - Mottled Javas are definitely eggs to look forward too.

Looks like that is at least 8... Although some are waiting for hens to start laying again. I figure there are some lurkers as well.

I'm giving Siz a little more time to respond right now. I would like for this to get cranked back up.
