Rare phase Appleyard, or what's up with this duck?

I bought a juvenile silver appleyard who started true as a duckling, but is getting very dark. It also has a slate grey beak. Do I have a rare phase appleyard?? What's up with this colouration? I also hear Quacks. Distinct Quacks. Confused!

Not an Appleyard..Plus it's a Drake.

But Ive heard definite quacks...

It's a Drake by its colours. As a Duckling it should of had two eye stripes for Appleyard.
