Rat In Our House - Very Smart - Can't Get Rid Of Him --HELP!--

We jad a problem a while ago. I ended up using poison--not my first 2nd or 10th choice, but it is still working. We use a bait box with the poison in it. We have to keep replacing it b/c it is getting eaten. Someone mentioned to me to tie a peice of bacon or some meat to the snap traps (Victor traps)--that way the rat has to stick around for a while to get it, thereby increasing its chances of getting caught.

It more than likely may have started out as one rat, but you've probably got many by now---saw a documentary on the critters--they reproduce like crazy--could it be a squirrel maybe? They like attics...

I got rid of two squirrels in my attic... then two rats moved in!

'k, Nifty I wouldn't offer this for just anybody, but I like you....Killer Kitty is for rent. I'll discount her rate to $100 a week, just for you, and I won't even charge you shipping.

Come to think of it, forget it. She's probably sick of rat after having to live on em for 11 days in the shed!
Seriously, only way we ever got rid of the occasional rat (before Killer Kitty) was good ol' fashioned traps baited with peanut butter.

If you're sure it's a rat - buy a RatZapper. Follow directions for getting rats(works for mice too). Use cat food for bait. Reusable, battery operated.

Best mouser in the world is a skunk. I put half an apple out 3 times a week in my driveway to keep mine around. When I first moved in 10 years ago there were plenty and I can't stand them, now I haven't had one in years. Never been sprayed either( not at home anyway. Got sprayed once at work but that is a whole different story) My dogs stay away from them and they can't get to my chickens. I do have to keep my beehives elevated though, they really like eating honeybees. Anyway you can get them with their scent sacks removed from pet stores. And if you get them young they actually do make really good pets. They just need to be kept indoors like a de-clawed cat then because most of its defense is gone without the spray. Thats all. Have a Blessed Day

I know an old admin that had some old bread... he got a rat to eat the bread then got a skunk to eat the rat, then got a coon to attack the skunk...

I alreay know how this story ends and it's not a happy ending!
