Rat in the chicken coop

For a few days now I've seen a rat in the coop and run at night time. This morning I found the rat dead by the entrance with a hole in its chest. Is it possible one of my 14 hens killed it? I'm just glad its gone now and my hens are all OK.

Totally possible. I wouldn't be surprised at all. There is always more than one, though, so you might want to set some rat traps in a place the chickens can't reach.

Chickens love them. I'm surprised they didn't eat it. But if you see one, there are many more unseen. There is never just one rat.
