Rat Poison

My husband put out rat poison in a shed without telling me. I discovered it tonight. My chickens have had free access to the area around the shed. I do not know exactly where he put down the poison. So far no dead/sick chickens. But I have no idea if they have ingested any or ingested a mouse or rat that was killed by it. My question is are the eggs safe? Right now my instinct is to pitch them all, and keep pitching them until I have been able to clean up the poison and let a period of time go by to make sure the chickens do not have any in their system. I sell these eggs not to mention my children eat them so I would prefer not to take any chances. I feel like pitching the husband too. Beyond mad that he did this with out saying a word.
About 8 years ago, I put poison in my garage thinking it was far from the hens.
After a few weeks, one by one, each gal died slowly when their eggs didn’t fully form and got sorta stuck in their bodies.
Bummer.

Which is why using poison is the third step in eliminating rodents ranked by effectiveness and the cost of implementation which are one and the same.

First, sanitation, bulk feed in metal drums, a proper treadle feeder, and cleaning up routes of access so natural predators thin the ranks of rodents.

Second, exclusion, a Fort Knox tight coop.

Only then the third, poison and trapping.

Bottom line, stop feeding the rodents and they have to leave or starve to death.

I put some bate down in my shed. About 8 weeks ago. The shed is next to the hens but separate. How long should I leave the eggs before I can start eating them again. I've been having 4 a day.and throwing them away.its such a shame the hens seem quiet happy. But I'm put of eating them

Hi I had the same problem this morning my chickens got out the pen, I noticed when they was pecking away at the bait trays rat posion :(
Should I not eat any of the egg now . I am hoping my chickens are going to be ok :(
I'm really worried I will go out tomorrow to feed them n find them dead , I know they didn't have a lot of the poison but don't know how much they need to affect them . I am so angry with myself I should have being more careful when it comes to putting the poison out now , I'm going to make it more safer x
I put rat bate down in my shed. But now I use oats and bicarbonate soda in a freezer zip bag.touch wood I have no sighing of any rats or any sighs of any activity. That's what farmers use and it's not harmful to pets.
