I still haven’t put them out yet... I know, know.@HuffleClaw have you checked the baits to see if there are any nibblers?
I already have 4 cats.I haven’t read through the page So I don’t know if this was mentioned, but many humane society’s have “adopt a barn cat” programs, where feral cats can be brought to your property to kill mice and rats. If your interested, you could even adopt a real barn cat or a human-friendly stray. That’s what I did and I never looked back. 3 years ago our neighbors two cats, turned into 14, and there were lots of them running around up the road. I brought on sweet black kitty to my garage, who was looking thin and smaller than the others. She immediately ran up to me, and I knew she was the one. I then took her to be spayed, and started her off as a house cat (she’s half indoor half outdoor) before finally letting her outside during the day. Ever since, she’s done a remarkable job at destroying the rat population we had, you wouldn’t think that a tiny 8-pound kitty could become the queen of the farm, but she did!
This is what I mean when I say that they really are smart little s***s. They have evaded most traps & predators. We have a ton of alley cats that come around every night but they never do actually catch them all.I already have 4 cats.
Barn cats? Do they catch the rats?I already have 4 cats.
Normal cats. They can’t if all the rats are mostly underground or inside of the coops. My cats barely tolerate each other. I can only imagine the caos if I brought home another cat.Barn cats? Do they catch the rats?
We feel for you Huffle we really do!If I have to explain to people that I already have 4 cats ONE more time on my rats thread... I may go a bit insane.(I’ve only had to say it 3 or 4 times but it seems like more)
