I didn't use it for a long time because I was worried about my barn cats and outside dogs being poisoned. Just one Bite has a low risk of secondary poisoning. I talked to several vets about it and they all said the same thing....it would take many dead rats eaten in a short period of time for it to hurt a dog. You wouldn't want them to eat the bait itself, which is why I invested in the locking bait boxes.
I have used the hawk brand bait and the tomcat. WHAT is the one bite? I don't know what that is? I was putting the poisen DOWN any holes I saw and then covering with rocks. The locking bait trap is an EXCELLENT idea to try next as that I could put under my coop (mostly) and then put bait there. I haven't put any bait under the coop as there IS enough room for my smallest bantys under there.
I looked the locking bait station up, and they sell them online and on
ebay. DO they sell them at like southern states or
tsc? DO I have to buy them online? I have not seen them at
walmart. Wed is my errand day.
SOMEThing JUST occured to me. Every morning I have 2 bantams (the smallest I have) that are out. I deal with animal chores between & and 7:3 and these 2 hens are always out. They are small enough to fly out under the eaves of coop. It is about 4 inches. BET that is how the rats are still getting in DUH, if those 2 banties are getting out a rat could get in. I hadn't wanted to do a snap trap as I worried about them. I know they go in at night I have seen them when I opened back door.
BINGO thats what I need to fix. If the banties cant get out than the rats can't get in!! SO I fix under the eaves and if my banties cant get out THEN I can do the snap trap. WOW thanks guys, talking it out has made me realize my problem!! Still want ot do the locking bait station too!
