Yeah I have a few of those one to and I have the one that catches them live traps seem to catch the most the live trap I have only caught one in four months I would like to get at least three a night and I have tried glue traps but only caught two and a bird ugh and I have had a pigeon in the snap traps before I'm not trying to catch birds

It is well documented that poisoning rats also poisons the predators that prey on the "old and the sick". A poisoned rat does not drop dead on the spot, but crawls away, often out in the open where they are easy pickings. Owls, dogs, cats, and anything else that will kill a dying rat can be killed themselves by the poison inside the rat. Scavengers are also affected by the poison. Free ranging chickens might even ingest a poisoned rodent or parts of it.
The best way to prevent rats is to remove their food source. Keep trying with the snap traps. Rats will never be eradicated, all we can do is try to manage them. Recently I had to add a layer of hardware cloth along the bottom of my chicken run, dug down about a foot. I know it is only a matter of time before they get in! And then it is battle stations once again.
Sorry to come across with a lecture but it is something I feel very strongly about. Please do not use poison in your backyard.

It is that simple, control the feed, control the rodents. You cannot poison or trap or fence your way out of a rodent problem but securing the feed both at night and in the daytime will make the rats leave. They might stay in the area if you have a compost pile that you are dumping garbage in but you shouldn't be doing that either. If they stay they are going to have to work their furry little behinds off to survive and constantly search for food once you take away their free buffet. The rodent population will collapse quickly and come back only to the point that natural food can support.

It just so happens a treadle feeder, a good treadle feeder, does this.

Don't have to buy the treadle I make, you can make one yourself if you are handy and your time is worth less than your money.
